Damian is the creative force behind WBSS.
Having spent his former years playing guitar in various bands while working at The Sydney Opera House, Damo rose through the ranks and ended up Sound Designing and Engineering numerous productions for Opera Australia, The Sydney Symphony Orchestra and various one off events. Greatly influenced by new leaps in music technology, and inspired by the obvious new creative possibilities that that technology made available, he has been dabbling with electronic music since his childhood. From those early days, chopping up drum loops and vocals in his bedroom, he has become one of Australia’s most highly regarded composers and producers.
In the mid 90’s, drawn together by a mutual love of HipHop, Ragga and Dub styles he started
collaborating with various likeminded artists and singers around Sydney and created what we now know as “Wicked Beat Sound System”. From the formative Jam nights at Sydneys now defunct Bently Bar he has built WBSS into one of Australia’s leading electronica outfits.
Apart from his duties with WBSS, Damian’s unique production skills are in high demand.
In the last few years he has worked on remixes for the likes of Paul Kelly, Leonardo’s Bride, Abi Tucker, Renee Geyer, Yothu Yindi, Christine Anu, Darren Hayes, Iva Davies to name but a few.
Other recent credits include musical compositions for the acclaimed Sydney Dreaming Festivals, Music production and live performances with the indigenous superstar ‘Frank Yamma”, including co-writing and producing his latest Album, “Keep up The Pace”. Music composition and production for Sydney rappa and JJJ presenter Mya Jupiter. Music composition for the award winning Australian / French Theatre Production “Ngalyod” that toured extensively throughout Europe and Asia Pacific. He has also recently completed a sound design for Roda Roberts aclaimed solo play "Bible Boxing Love".
In recent years Damian has been a regular guest on Canberra ABC Radio 666 discussing all things musical with Alex Sloane during her morning show.
